ABOUT US
A Brief History
Commencing in the mid 1970's, the ANNEBAR prefix was first registered with the Australian Stock Horse Society by the Simpson Family Partnership. Around 1980 Peter Simpson also registered the prefix of OAK RIDGE and bred horses under that name for a time.
Since that time the focus has changed from the exclusive breeding of Australian Stock Horses to producing and showing quality, all-round horses using proven Quarter Horse, Paint Horse, Thoroughbred and Stock Horse bloodlines.
The ideal has always been to produce a quality riding horse that would excel in a range of disciplines, whether as a pleasure horse, a show horses or a work horse and provide the owner with years of service. With this in mind a number of stallions have been stood at stud or used since then, with the preference being for horses that have carried a high percentage of Thoroughbred (or racing Quarter Horse) blood and mixing this blood with proven performance lines. The sires used all came from proven bloodlines and had excellent conformation, but above all they had outstanding temperaments. Further details on the stallions used are available on the STALLIONS page.
Using these sires, a number of foals bred by ANNEBAR and OAK RIDGE have gone on and won numerous awards, including many High Point Awards, Register of Merits and numerous Championships.
Some of the horses we have bred and shown include:
ROYAL HEART THROB - Known to all his friends as DROVER, this multi-National Champion Paint Bred Gelding is Australia's first Paint Horse SUPREME CHAMPION award winner! (Check out the DROVER page on this site)
ROYAL TREAT - Futurity Winner, Stakes Event Winner, ROM Qualifier, Multiple High Point Award Winner.
SOMETHING ROYAL - High Point Award winner. Winner in Western and English. Campdraft, Hack and official Dressage winner and placegetter.
LUCKY PASS - High Point Award winner.

In addition to these home-bred horses, Peter has also shown and campaigned a number of horses successfully which were purchased, or were in partnership with friends and clients, including:
BELVEDERE BILLYARRA (leased from Peter and Necia Predebon) - Paint Stallion, winner of Thunderbolt Country Western Pleasure and Trail Futurities, placegetter at State and National level, Honour Roll Halter Stallion.

While in recent years there have been very few foals bred and no shows have been attended we are looking to the future with plans in place to breed a number of young home-bred mares in 2020 which been retained, some of which will go to our young Thoroughbred stallion PJP WIRETAPPER, with the aim being to continue to produce quality all round horses to suit a variety of purposes.
