A HORSE CALLED DROVER
ROYAL HEART THROB
Registered Paint-bred Gelding. PHAA 7003. Known as 'DROVER' to his friends.
Undoubtedly the favourite of all the horses bred so far, DROVER has proven himself to be the perfect representative of the type of horse we have been aiming to breed, having provided his owner, Jill Wagner, with many years of enjoyment and success in a wide range of events and levels of competition. This has culminated in DROVER being the first Paint Horse in Australia to qualify for the PHAA Supreme Champion award.
Foaled in 1997 DROVER is a son of BELVEDERE BILLYARRA and our grand old Quarter Horse mare VENUS POOL ROYALITA, whose other foals included Futurity winner ROYAL TREAT and the versatile SOMETHING ROYAL. Being a bit on the plain side he was christened with the name DROVER after Barry Simpson, who had taken a fancy to him as a possible work horse for himself, said "he might make a drovers horse".
DROVER was purchased by Jill in 2002 and made his first appearance at the Paint Horse Nationals in 2003, taking home National Championship honours at his very first National Show.
In the years since DROVER has returned to the Nationals year after year, taking home many titles in his pet event, Dressage, as well as other English and Western events. He has amassed one of the most impressive lists of awards of any Paint Horse in Australia with ROM's, Superiors, Distinction, Honour Rolls and many other awards.
Now into his twenties it is obvious that his best years are behind him, but even though he is currently recovering from an injury he is still showing the desire to get out there again, especially when the truck heads out to a show without him!
We look forward to see Jill and DROVER back in the show ring!
